REACH - Customer Information REACH stands for the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation of Chemicals. This new EU regulation centralises and simplifies chemicals legislation throughout Europe and entered into force on 1st of June 2007. The declared aim is to improve the level of knowledge about the dangers and risks that chemicals may pose. Companies are expected to assume even more responsibility for the safe handling of their products. Silex is a "compounder" and user of silicone-rubber-master-batches producing silicone hoses and -profiles by extrusion technology. Hence Silex is classified as a "down-stream-user" according to the so-named supplier-chain of Reach. Silex is neither a producer of chemical substances nor a producer of chemical compounds, this means registration is not necessary. It is obvious that Silex takes care of a safe handling of their products, also by having a strong relationship with the "up-stream-users", like their suppliers.
